October 23, 2009 - 53rd Annual Rose & Arrangement Show Slated

“A Carnival of Roses”

Arizona's oldest Rose Society will host its 53rd annual Rose and Arrangement Show, Saturday, Nov.21 on the campus of Mesa Community College from 1 until 4 p.m.

The event (free to the public) will offer visitors the chance to view hundreds of varieties of roses and rose arrangements at their finest.

As an additional feature, the public is invited (in the amateur category) to submit roses and/or rose arrangements from their own gardens.  Consulting Rosarians will be on hand early in the morning from 6 until 9:30, to assist amateurs with entry preparation.  There is NO charge for this service.

Presentation of the show's trophies and the Grand Winner will be made at 3 p.m.

Other events beginning at 2:30 include pruning demonstrations and a guided tour of the Public Rose Gardens at MCC, which features some 8,500 rose bushes at the peak of their autumn bloom. The Public Rose Garden at MCC is the largest in the Desert-Southwest—bordering five acres along the Southern Avenue entrance to the campus.

MCC
is located at 1833 W. Southern Avenue—Southern Ave. & Dobson Road.

The Rose and Arrangement Show takes place in the Student Center at the center of the campus.  Parking is free.  For information call 480-202-4215
