Travel trends are pointing to shorter hauls this summer and travel savings are already being announced as Valley resorts begin tempting the locals with summer rates. The Mesa Convention & Visitors Bureau is joining the fray and will kick off their 100 Days of Summer marketing campaign on Memorial Weekend and give away weekly Mesa hotel stays and daily instant-win prizes through Labor Day. The visitors bureau will be launching the social media effort on Facebook to help boost summer stay-cations and encourage area residents to experience Mesa's many tourism attractions this summer.
The customized promotion will offer a weekly Mesa hotel giveaway for 14 weeks and daily "instant-win" prizes for 100 consecutive days to guests that enter on Facebook. Using the Facebook contest application, winners will be selected at random. The summer promotion will also feature daily posts themed to the prize for each day so online viewers can see what activities, events and experiences are being offered in Mesa during the summer season.
"Nine months out of the year we are selling sunshine and desert warmth to out-of-towners that seek out this quality in our destination," said Director of Sales James Tevault. "During the summer months we can keep the message close to home and focus on promoting Mesa's great value and encourage residents to explore Mesa."
Consumer interaction and real-time engagement are just some of the benefits to the social media campaign as the Facebook promotion is also integrated with Twitter and designed to encourage sharing amongst users. Only Facebook fans of Visit Mesa are eligible to enter into the weekly hotel giveaways and daily instant-win prizes. Because summer season is short and relies heavily on a local and short-haul consumer, the social media campaign offers one of the fastest ways to try and impact immediate business at Mesa attractions, restaurants, museums, event venues and hotels.
The instant win prizes vary from hot-air balloon rides, trips for two to the Grand Canyon, certificates for Mesa dining, shopping, rounds of golf, spa and salon experiences and more. For Valley residents interested in learning more about Mesa's deals this summer, they can also download digital coupons at www.VisitMesa.com/Deals.
In addition, the bureau will launch a three-month advertising effort on Facebook that will utilize geo-targeting and focus on the Arizona market. The Facebook advertisements are intended to help attract consumers directly to Mesa's summer promotions and increase traffic to the bureau's online resource site, www.VisitMesa.com.
