The Best Golf Courses in Mesa

There are more than 40 golf courses in the Mesa area and every single one of them will offer a different view or unique shot-making choice unlike the other.

Mesa's golf courses put players in front of sweeping vistas set against the natural beauty of the desert and blue Western skies. Plus, the city’s welcoming weather makes Mesa the perfect setting for a golf getaway. Here’s our guide to our favorite golf spots!

Award-Winning Courses

Perhaps the most challenging of them all is Las Sendas Golf Club, which takes advantage of the breathtaking views of Red Mountain and the Superstition mountain range. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the course has matured into one of the most beautiful courses in Arizona and ranks as one of the top 50 courses in the nation.

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, home to Golfweek’s 2014 top public course across Arizona, offers a dramatic test of golf that plays through shady arroyos and over desert ridges. Just north of the city is We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, developed by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and managed by Troon Golf. You’re in for an unmatched Sonoran Desert golf experience with their two award-winning 18-hole golf courses, Cholla and Saguaro, that both offer dramatic views of the Sonoran desert and a great game of golf. The original Cholla course, designed by Scott Miller, and the newer Saguaro course, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, are both 18-hole courses that will offer a memorable experience whether you’re a weekend golfer or a seasoned pro.

Set inside the urban heart of Mesa is Superstition Springs Golf Club, one of Arizona's most challenging golf layouts but also one of the city’s most diverse in terms of terrain. This premier course measures over 7,000 yards from the back tee and was a PGA Tour qualifying site rated among the Southwest's finest golf experiences. Lush fairways framed by mature trees with picturesque water features add to the strategy on this championship course designed by Greg Nash.

Augusta Ranch Golf Club is the top short course in the East Valley. An 18-hole, par 61 golf course renowned for its exceptional playing conditions, friendly service, and challenging layout. This course allows players of all abilities to get out and enjoy the game of golf, the way it is meant to be enjoyed. With PGA instructors on staff, visitors can sign up for a tune-up lesson before dusting off their clubs. You will use every club in your bag on this wonderful layout and better yet it won't take all day.

Golf Clinics are held on Saturdays throughout the year for $10 each, adult or junior.

Toka Sticks Golf Club offers visitors a traditional links golf experience on an affordable and enjoyable layout. Offering Callaway Golf rental clubs for men, women and juniors, this golf club is perfect for those who want to enjoy the best equipment in golf without packing their clubs from home. If you’re looking to brush up on your skills before hitting the green, Toka Sticks Golf Club even offers a practice facility with various instruction options including PGA teaching professionals.

Practice your putt at Dobson Ranch Golf Course, an 18-hole championship golf course featuring mature landscaping and large greens. Voted Best Public Golf Course by readers of a popular Valley entertainment guide, golfers appreciate the excellent course condition and playability. PGA golf instruction is offered for players of all ages and abilities. The Pro Shop features a full line of discounted professional golf equipment, and the on-site restaurant offers banquet facilities.

DISC GOLF

Several City of Mesa parks and Stripe Show Golf Club are equipped for the fun, competitive sport of disc golf. Meander through trees, shrubs, and challenging terrain layouts when the "putt" lands in the basket. Disc golf shares the same pleasures (and frustrations) of traditional golf, whether it's sinking a long putt or hitting a tree halfway down the fairway.

Glow Golf

When the sun sets, grab the clubs for night golf with glow-in-the-dark golf balls. This new way to get in a round after dark is especially fun during a full moon. Played in a scramble format, golfers who crave a real test will find it playing Glow Ball at Augusta Ranch Golf Club.

Foot Golf

Now being played at Augusta Ranch Golf Club, an official American FootGolf League Arizona site, this energy-driven game uses a soccer ball as players aim toward "BIG" cups. All ages are welcome to kick a ball down the fairway as you pair in teams. For an added element and to avoid the sun, try the course’s newest offering, night time Glow Foot Golf.

So get your golf clubs together and head out to beautiful Mesa for great weather, views and golf this fall. Once you go, be sure to use #MesaCityLimitless #VisitMesa and tell us which course is your favorite; you’ll find it’s hard to choose just one!
