Almost Perfect Desert Golf
This course is so overwhelmingly beautiful and well-planned that it's seems ridiculous to mention a few sub-standard features. This is what I loved about playing here. The views and the layout of the course made me smile on almost every hole. Yes, there is sand, and some water, and saguaro cactus that make cutting the corner more difficult--but, if you hit straight and follow the free course guide, you will score well. After experiencing the first few holes, I found myself hurrying to the next just to see what it looked like. Our started gave a five minute intro to the course and an explanation of what slow play means--even gave us a card with the 4 hour round policy spelled out. It may surprise you that pro-shop is temporary and the course restrooms are porta-potties. I did not venture to Mesa for a nice sit-down, so this did not bother me at all. This course is a good value at $100 in the winter even with uncompleted buildings. At $65, the price we each paid, it was one of the best golf values in Arizona. I'm not saying Las Sendas is the best Arizona has to offer, but it arguably the best sub-$100 courses in the Phoenix.

Like Playing Golf in the Saguaro National Park. Truly Unique. Excellent Golf.
Playing at Las Sendas is like playing a round of golf in the middle of the Saguaro National Park. For those of you who have not been to Mesa or the Phoenix area, the Saguaro Cactus is the giant cactus, often referred to as the symbol of the southwest). Las Sendas is a challenging, beautiful, 5-star course with very quick greens and lots of cacti. It is as close to to a desert course as I've played. I'm a 15 handicap and I played the blues without any problem. Getting the ball to stick on the greens was often tough because of their speed, but our extra shots gave us more time to spend on this course. We were very disappointed when our round was over - we could have turned around and played it over again immediately. Every hole is unique and scenic. If the course hadn't been so awesome, I would have been a bit upset over some of my poor shots. But, the course's beauty and amazing views make even a bad shot a distant memory. The staff was friendly and polite. They took care of us and we were very appreciative. Check out the Las Sendas Golf website for pictures and more info. about the course. The pictures on the website don't do the course justice...it is even more spectacular then the pictures suggest. I'd tell any decent golfer to put this course on the top of their list.
