U.S. Junior Synchro Championships in Mesa

      Nearly 300 elite synchronized swimmers will gather at the Kino Aquatic Center, April 11-14 for the 2012 U.S. Junior Synchronized Swimming Championships. The event will feature athletes ages 15-18, who will vie for Junior National Titles in the solo, duet, team and combination events. The competition marks the first USA Synchro National Championship held in Mesa and will be hosted by Mesa Sports and the Arizona Synchronized Swim Association. The announcement comes as the city is about to unveil another key investment into Mesa's swimming facilities in the coming year

The event will feature athletes ages 15-18, who will vie for Junior National Titles in the solo, duet, team and combination events. While most of the nation is under a layer of snow, Mesa is putting on a good show over the next few weeks as they host 13 swim teams from across North America to winter swim training and the Citrus Classic Swim Meet on Jan. 7, 2011. Hosting winter training and developing the winter swim competition, Citrus Classic, was an effort spearheaded by Mesa Sports & Tourism Development, a division of the Mesa Convention & Visitors Bureau and partners Mesa Public Schools, City of Mesa and Mesa Aquatics Club.
