Celebrate the 4th of July in Mesa at the “coolest” celebration in the state: Arizona’s Celebration of Freedom! This free event in Downtown Mesa is a great way to celebrate America’s Independence Day while enjoying entertainment, kids’ activities, live music, learning opportunities and much more with both indoor and outdoor activities!
Be sure to check out the Revolutionary War reenactment by local historical reenactors from We Make History. The portrayal will include an appearance by General George Washington and his men. Watch as history unfolds as the battle takes place.
After the Revolutionary War reenactment concludes, stick around and test your knowledge. You can take a civics test and see how much you really know about U.S. history. Don’t worry though, this test is not graded! However, if you do well, you could win family bragging rights!
If your kiddos aren’t so enthralled by history, head over to the Yankee Doodle Kid Zone where you’ll find plenty of fun carnival games. If water fun is more their style, splash around at the Celebration Splash Zone which features inflatable water attractions and a soak zone.
Maybe you’re looking for something a little more low-key? At the Tailgate Zone, you can sit on the grass and listen to live music, enjoy delicious food, play traditional tailgating games and spend quality time with your family.
While you’re having fun, make sure you stop by and thank the men and women who save our lives every day. For a hands-on experience, check out the military vehicles on display. At the exhibit, you can also view a memorial honoring the fallen men and women who proudly served our country, hear a presentation about historical flags by George Washington, see 100 people become U.S. citizens in a Naturalization Ceremony and even watch local artists create 4th of July-themed artwork with chalk!
This exciting day ends with a spectacular fireworks show: the perfect way to end a fun-filled celebration!
Stay right in the middle of the action during your 4th of July getaway at the Phoenix Mesa Marriott. Walk right over to the festivities in downtown Mesa, then there’s no need to pay for parking, or an Uber!
