Top Fall Activities at Saguaro Lake in Mesa

Here at Visit Mesa, we often have to remind ourselves just how lucky we are to be located so close to Saguaro Lake. Read more to see how you can enjoy the lake this fall!

Named for the many beautiful saguaro cacti that surround it, Saguaro Lake has more than 22 miles of shoreline and is 118 feet deep at its deepest point. What we love about the lake is that it offers so much to do. With the beautiful fall weather approaching, we’ve put together a list of 7 ways to enjoy Saguaro Lake. Take a day trip, spend a weekend, however long you want to go, Saguaro Lake should be on your fall bucket list, and below are 7 reasons why.

1. The Desert Belle Tour Boat

The famous Desert Belle finds its home on the beautiful, sprawling Saguaro Lake, an attraction within itself. Take a narrated cruise, both entertaining and educational, while enjoying beer, wine, or soft drinks from the snack bar. Or, take one of the weekly live music cruises on the weekends, where a local band will strum away as you cruise the calm waters and enjoy the sunset. Either way, you can’t go wrong with the Desert Belle.

2. Boat Rental

If you’d rather take boating into your own hands, check out the Precision Marine Rentals at the marina. Here, they'll rent out a boat to you so you can enjoy the lake, and even rent out fishing supplies so you can fish off of your newly rented boat.

3. Kayaking

Get closer to the water in a kayak. Check out REI Co-op Adventure Center Arizona for a guided tour or rental. They'll provide a kayak and life-jacket rental. Nothing’s more calming than kayaking across Saguaro, taking in the beautiful views while even getting a bit of a workout from the paddles.

4. Jet Skiing

For the adventure seekers who want a thrill, Saguaro Lake is a great place to Jet Ski. Achieve high speeds on the lake this fall, with the cool fall breeze racing past your face and through your hair.

5. Wakeboarding

It doesn’t have to be an extreme sport, but wakeboarding sure is thrilling! Follow behind your boat rental on a wakeboard, traveling over the lake at a high speed and riding over the wake your boat leaves behind. It’s loads of fun and quite the adventure!

6. ShipRock Restaurant

A way to enjoy the lake at a slower pace is at the ShipRock Restaurant, conveniently located right next to the lake. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Goldfield Mountains, Bulldog Cliffs, and, of course, Saguaro Lake. With weekly specials and “all you can eat” fish and chips on Wednesday and Friday nights, the ShipRock Restaurant is a must-visit at Saguaro Lake.

7. Stand Up Paddling

Here’s our last unique way to enjoy Saguaro Lake: stand up paddling, or SUP. Paddle around the big, open lake and enjoy the calm waters while also getting a pretty good workout. Rent your paddle boards from No Snow Stand Up Paddleboards and enjoy the lake at your leisure.
