The Duttons Finally Open in Mesa
The Duttons, Branson, Missouri’s top musical variety show, open Saturday, January 24th in a temporary location at the Legacy Elementary School Theater, next door to East Valley High School in Mesa. “This isn’t exactly how we planned It.” said Dean Dutton, the troupe’s chief financial office and, coincidentally, father. “But as the saying goes, ‘Man plans and God laughs."
Construction delays have hampered the Duttons’ original plan to open their new Arizona venue at the arts-oriented charter school, East Valley High School in late January. The new venue will be completely remodeled, featuring a stunning new stage and state-of-the-art sound and lights. The Duttons plan on performing at the new theater during their winter tour season from mid-December through the end of March each year. The Dutton Family Theater at East Valley High School, was slated to open at the end of January 2009. Due to construction delays, the Duttons are now looking at opening the theater closer to the end of February.
“This family doesn’t do “idle” well, so the show must go on!” according to Benjamin Dutton, cellist, dancer and head of marketing for The Duttons, Arizona. “We are extremely happy about working out a plan with the Legacy Elementary School. It is right next door to East Valley High School and we will perform there until the new theater is completed. They have a fun, intimate theater that we will house the show in for the short term. We have also brought out our technical staff from Branson to help turn this great little theater into something really special until we can make the move over to our new auditorium.”
Aside from dealing with construction delays, Benjamin has been commuting back and forth to Cleveland, Ohio, where his 6-year-old son Isaac is undergoing neurological treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.
