Pearl Harbor Day: 79th Anniversary Observance with Phoenix Metro Fly Over

An impeccably restored warplane from World War II will perform a commemorative fly-over of the Arizona State Capitol, National Cemetery at Cave Creek and the USS Arizona Memorial Gardens area in Scottsdale the morning of Monday, Dec. 7, marking the 79th anniversary of the devastating attack that set off WWII in 1941 and put in motion Arizona’s vital role in the War.

The fly-over aircraft will launch from historic Falcon Field in Mesa at approximately 10:45 am and head to the State Capitol in Phoenix. The progress of the flight will be reported by ground watchers on Facebook (@cafairbasearizona). The fly-over route will then go to the National Cemetery in Cave Creek and then the newly opened USS Arizona Memorial Garden at Salt River in Scottsdale. Each of the sites strongly symbolize the service and sacrifice of Arizonans. A U.S. flag that flew over the USS Arizona Memorial in Hawaii will be carried aboard the aircraft during the flight.
