Royal Air Force Weekend & Veterans Day at the Airbase Arizona Museum

Did you know the British sent young men to Arizona for basic pilot training in WWII? After they got their 'wings' many went to Canada for their advanced training before being sent into combat in Europe or Asia. Learn about the history of Falcon Field, which was established by British in 1941 and its rich historic legacy of military aviation. All inclusive with regular museum admission.

Schedule of Events
SATURDAY, November 9th, museum hours 10 am to 4 pm
All day:
• Classic warbirds tell the story of 100 years of military aviation.
•  New exhibit on the history of Falcon Field and its WWII RAF training school.
11 am – performance by the Mesa Caledonian Band – Arizona’s premier Scottish Pipe Band
1 pm – special presentation by Michael Lavelle “The Allies and Operation Overlord”

• N2-S3 Stearman bi-plane -- same primary trainer type used by British cadets – a living history experience!
• C-45 Expeditor – two engine classic aircraft of type used for military multi-engine training
• B-17 Flying Fortress – heavy bomber of type relied upon to win the war!

SUNDAY, November 10th, museum hours 10 am to 4 pm
All day:
• Classic warbirds tell the story of 100 years of military aviation.
• New exhibit on the history of Falcon Field and its WWII RAF training school.
10 am – observe aircraft preparing to take off for flyover of Mesa Cemetery in memory of 23 British RAF cadets who died in flight training accidents while stationed at Falcon Field. The cadets were buried at Mesa Cemetery.
Have a blast in the past! All ages welcome! Adult admission $15, seniors and veterans $12, kids ages 5-12 $5, active duty military and disabled veterans and kids under 5 free.

MONDAY, November 11thmuseum hours 10 am to 4 pm
Bring your favorite veteran to the museum on this important day of appreciation to all veterans past and present. Amid exhibits covering 100 years of military aviation discover inspiring stories of service to country. The East Valley's top-rated museum also features historic aircraft and living history flights. Docent Bill Querhn will also give an educational presentation at 11 am which is free with regular admission. Includes ceremony with partner organization Army Aviation Heritage Foundation AZ Chapter and additional Huey helicopter. We are a Blue Star Museum -- active duty military are admitted free.
