Visitors Mean Lower Taxes | Visit Mesa

In the last 8 years, Mesa hotels alone have generated more than $670 Million in revenue and contributed more than $50 Million in tax revenues to the City of Mesa. And, this figure does not include all the tax revenues generated by the purchases at restaurants, attractions, retail centers and amusements by the very people that overnighted in these hotel rooms.

Visitor tax yields are far more efficient than resident tax yields because visitors don’t typically require the same local services that residents do.

In fact, the state and local tax revenues generated by visitors to Arizona is enough to pay the wages of every firefighter, law enforcement officer, and emergency dispatcher in the entire state.

Visitor taxes help Maricopa County colleges, jails and offset the costs for municipal safety, parks, street repairs and road maintenance.
