The Mesa Convention & Visitors Bureau, City Of Mesa Parks & Recreation and Mesa Public Schools have secured the first-ever rugby tournament in Mesa. Being held next week, the Women's Premier League Championship, part of USA Rugby, will compete Nov. 12 and Nov. 14 at Quail Run Sports Complex in Mesa.

The public is welcome to attend the championships which begin at 9 a.m. on Fri., Nov. 12 and 9 a.m. on Sun., Nov. 14. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $5 per day, all ages. Food and beverage will be available during the event featuring Tom’s BBQ. Camelback Rugby Club, Arizona’s rugby association, is assisting with the host duties. RugbyAGE.com will be onsite selling rugby-related merchandise and equipment. Quail Run Sports Complex is located at 4155 E. "Rugby is a unique and growing sport in this country,” said James Tevault, with the Mesa Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This tournament represents the first rugby national championship in Arizona and we hope it is the first of many rugby competitions here in Mesa.”
