E42: Dani Bowman Beyond Love on the Spectrum
This week on City Limitless®, we welcome one of the most inspiring and beloved stars of Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum for a special bonus episode that is full of heart, honesty and joy. Dani Bowman, animator, entrepreneur, advocate and founder of DaniMation Entertainment, joins us in Mesa alongside her boyfriend Henry Andrade for a conversation about love, creativity, autism advocacy and living a life without limits. And there could not be a more meaningful place for this conversation than Mesa, Arizona, proudly recognized as the world’s first Autism Certified City and the first-ever Autism Certified Destination®.
“I am a person on the autism spectrum with an interest in animation… animation is not only an art form. It’s the best way of how I’ve communicated.” - Dani Bowman
From the moment Dani and Henry walked into the studio, there was an immediate warmth that filled the room. Their relationship is genuine, supportive and filled with laughter in a way that instantly makes you root for them. But beyond the love story audiences have come to adore on screen, Dani’s journey is one of incredible purpose and perseverance.
Long before the world knew her from Netflix, Dani was a young girl fascinated by cartoons, characters and storytelling. While most children watched animated movies for entertainment, Dani wanted to understand how animation worked, how emotions could be expressed through movement and how stories could connect people in ways words sometimes could not. That curiosity turned into passion and eventually purpose when she launched her own animation company at just 14 years old.
Today, Dani uses that passion to help others on the autism spectrum turn creativity into careers through one-on-one mentorship, animation camps and professional opportunities in the animation industry. Her mission is deeply personal and incredibly inspiring.
Throughout the episode, Dani shared the lessons she has learned from her experiences on Love on the Spectrum, especially when it comes to relationships, boundaries and personal growth. And then there is Henry Andrade, whose calm support and genuine admiration for Dani created some of the sweetest moments of the entire interview.
The couple shared stories about how they met through a charitable fundraiser, their first date playing arcade games in Montrose and the importance of communication, patience and supporting each other’s dreams. Their relationship feels refreshingly authentic and grounded in mutual respect.
Dani also shared one of the most meaningful pieces of advice from her dating journey:
“Finding love is not about finding the right person. It’s about being the right person.”
It is simple, honest and incredibly moving.
Another unforgettable part of the conversation was hearing Dani talk about her work with Stanford University’s Neurodiversity Project, where DaniMation helped create animated training modules that teach healthcare professionals how to better support autistic and neurodivergent patients. Even more inspiring, many members of her creative team are also on the autism spectrum, including animators, musicians, voice actors and artists.
As a city committed to creating welcoming and sensory-inclusive experiences for all travelers and families, Mesa continues to lead by example in what true accessibility can look like. Dani’s visit served as a beautiful reminder that inclusion is not just about accommodations. It is about creating environments where everyone feels seen, valued and celebrated.
