Visit Mesa Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program

Visit Mesa is rolling out the “Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program" May 2021

Visit Mesa is pleased to introduce the “Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program” in our city. This initiative is a simple way for our visitors to self-identify they have a disability that might require a little extra help.

Not all disabilities are visible – some are hidden and not immediately obvious, such as learning difficulties, mental health as well as mobility, speech, visual or hearing impairments. Living with a hidden disability can make daily life more demanding for many people, but it can be difficult for others to identify, acknowledge or understand the challenges that are faced.

The easy-to-identify lanyards and bracelets will be available beginning May 3, 2021 at the Visit Mesa visitors center on a complimentary basis to those who simply ask for it.
Additionally, we will be identifying more distribution points throughout Mesa. Visitors will be able to request lanyards and bracelets at several of our hotels and attractions in the next few weeks.

We are asking you share this webpage with your staff and watch the short videos below, doing so will be the first vital step in creating awareness and educating our community about the “Hidden Disabilities Sunflower.”

Visit Mesa appreciates your support of this important initiative in our city, as we continue to build upon our goal of making all visitors feel welcome.

The following short videos will help you understand more about the program, and your role when you see someone wearing the sunflower lanyard
